Cotton is a natural, soft fiber that comes from the cotton plant. After it's harvested, it's cleaned and turned into threads that are woven into fabric. Cotton can be woven or treated in many different ways to create a variety of fabrics, each with its own texture, weight, and use.
Since cotton is a natural fiber, not synthetic, it's less likely to cause irritation. It allows for your skin to breathe, helping to reduce rashes. Its softness makes it kind to delicate or easily irritated skin.
Cotton is also friendly to the Earth when grown responsibly. Cotton breaks down naturally over time, unlike synthetic fabrics which can stay in landfills for hundreds of years. However, not all cotton is equally eco-friendly. Conventional cotton farming can use a lot of water and pesticides, but organic or sustainably farmed cotton is much better for the planet.
At Soft Threads, we primarily use GOTS-Certified or BCI Cotton Voile and Cambric Cotton in our collections, chosen for their comfort and breathability.
